Home Roasting Class

Only for our class setting, we utilize a well known home roaster. These can be purchased from another company for which I can highly recommend. I can offer a 2 hour class, providing the knowledge and how-to, to achieve your own personal coffee roasting ability.

From the selecting of green coffee(s), weighing the appropriate amount of beans, filling the glass roasting chamber, applying the bean chaff collector top, and lastly, the beginning heat setting and fan-speed setting; then go-time.

The heat & fan settings can be adjusted as the roast progresses. The necessity to keep an eye and ear trained on the stages of the development of the beans throughout the roast. Watching the transition of the color of the beans as they get hotter, and the ear listening for the first crack (FC), and then second crack (2C), and then depending on the bean origin (country or region origin), and desired roast level (light, medium, dark), we'll put the roaster into the cooling cycle for the final phase.

It may come to some surprise, roasting coffee does not take a long time. Usually, between 10 – 14 minutes, depending on your desired roast level.

It's fun to experiment with different coffee origins, mixing origins in varying portions, 50/50, 33, 33, 33, into 4ths, to make your own blends. Blends can make for some unique and very tasty results.

It's a artisan hobby and one that you can enjoy the fruits of your interest.
